Dedicated communication channels

We set up your connection through isolated communication channels without public Internet access. This ensures your network’s security and protects it from unauthorized access.

Bandwidth up to 10 Gbps

Direct Connect provides high-speed connectivity to the Servercore cloud with low latency.

High fault tolerance

We provide protection against network failures, and when renting MC-LAG, we guarantee constant port availability, even in the scheduled maintenance period.

Tasks that Direct Connect Helps Solve

Infrastructure consolidation into a single network

Connect your Servercore infrastructure with external infrastructure components regardless of their location (on your premises or with a third-party provider).

Rapid scaling

Establish network connectivity between additional infrastructure components as load increases. For example, when migrating some services to the cloud.

Efficient transfer of large volumes of data

Ensure high-speed data transmission with a dedicated communication channel. This is critical for real-time analytics, fast backups, and multimedia content processing.

FAQ

What is Direct Connect?

Direct Connect is a service that establishes a direct, private connection between the Servercore cloud platform and your business’s IT infrastructure located in different cities or with different providers.

A direct dedicated connection improves performance by reducing latency and increasing data transfer speeds and provides enhanced security, as information doesn’t travel over the public Internet.

When should you set up a dedicated Direct Connect channel?

— Migration of large data volumes.
A dedicated channel is necessary when transferring terabytes or petabytes of data from an on-premises data center (DC) to Servercore. This ensures high transfer speeds and minimizes downtime.

— Regular backup and recovery.
Direct Connect is ideal for frequent backups of large amounts of data, as it provides a stable and fast connection, critical for maintaining up-to-date backups.

— Applications sensitive to latency and performance fluctuations.
For tasks where low latency and stable performance are important, a dedicated channel provides a reliable connection and minimizes response time.

— Hybrid databases.
When part of your database or application is in an on-premises data center and another part is in Servercore, Direct Connect ensures low and predictable latency, which is critical for proper system operation.

— High security requirements and regulatory compliance.
Direct Connect provides a private connection, avoiding data travelling over the public internet to reduce the risk of data interception and increase the overall security compared to using a VPN over the internet.

— Transfer of confidential data.
A dedicated channel provides an additional layer of protection for transmitting sensitive information, especially important for organizations handling confidential data subject to strict security requirements.

What are the technical specifications of the physical port?

Technical characteristics are determined by the port interface speed:

— For ports with a data transfer rate of 1 Gbps, a copper RJ45 connector and corresponding copper switching are provided.

— For 10 Gbps ports, optical connection and fiber-optic cross-connection are used.

The following types of 10G optical transceivers are used for connection:

— SFP-10G SFP+ LR;
— SFP-10G-WDM (BiDi) SFP+ LR WDM Tx1270/Rx1330 LC;
— SFP-10G-WDM (BiDi) SFP+ LR WDM Tx1330/Rx1270 LC.

In addition, 1G transceivers for 10 Gbps ports can be supplied upon separate request:

— SFP-1G SFP LR;
— SFP-1G-WDM (BiDi) SFP LR WDM Tx1310/Rx1550 LC;
— SFP-1G-WDM (BiDi) SFP LR WDM Tx1550/Rx1310 LC.

How is the connection cost of Direct Connect formed and what affects the final price?

Direct Connect prices can be calculated, using the calculator on our website. The final cost depends on the following factors:

— Infrastructure location: at Servercore’s facilities or with another provider;
— Service type: logical port, physical port, or MC-LAG physical port;
— Channel bandwidth.

Before connecting Direct Connect to Servercore, you need to rent a communication channel from an operator. This service is not included in the price specified on the Servercore website. The cross-connection to the operator’s port is also paid separately.

For a more accurate calculation of the final cost, contact our technical support team by sending a request to hello@servercore.com.

What is the difference between public access and dedicated connection?

Public access to cloud services and dedicated connection are two different ways of interacting with cloud resources. Main differences:

— Performance and latency.
Public access uses a standard internet connection, which can cause high latency and unpredictable throughput. Dedicated connection provides a dedicated physical connection to minimize latency and ensure consistent performance.

— Security.
Public access exposes traffic to the risk of interception, and it requires additional security measures (encryption). A dedicated connection provides higher security, because traffic doesn’t travel over the Internet, reducing the risk of unauthorized access.

— Scalability.
Public access may limit scalability because of bandwidth fluctuations. Using a dedicated connection allows you to easily increase bandwidth according to business needs, providing a reliable solution for growth.
